In anticipation of having all of our samples collected, Françoise has been making glaze tests with ash using an electric kiln. The pure ash melted nicely. Our favourite in the photos below is test ‘D’ which has a very soft satin glaze that bleeds a bit and looks very nice on both red and pink clay. She used kaolin as a base for the tests. The next step will be testing with the wild clay and the rest of the ash we’ve gathered.
