While Françoise has been doing glaze tests, I have been experimenting with different vase forms, inspired by some of the archaeological pieces we saw at the Royal Museum Mariemont, (Research & Inspiration blog September 30th). Rather than just creating unified pieces from the beginning, my focus has been on exploring how to accentuate the appearance of our earth, and how to make vases by piecing together broken fragments from another vase. Just like our country, the vases made in this way are not planned and created whole from the start, but have come together in a tumultuous, improvised way. And the fragments used to make the vases are not individually perfect, but together they can still make something beautiful.
